Doodle Jump is a vertical climber with one rule: never stop going up. Your little four-legged character bounces on its own, and the only thing you decide is where it lands. Each bounce carries you toward the next platform, the screen scrolls upward as you climb, and the run ends the moment you fall off the bottom.

It is a different kind of game from the ninja platformers around it on Cat Ninja. There is no level to finish and no checkpoint. A run is one long climb scored by height, so the whole appeal is beating your own best number. Rounds are short and the restart is instant, which makes it a good break between longer sessions of Cat Ninja or Level Devil.

How to play

On a keyboard, the left and right arrow keys (or A and D) move the character sideways. The bounce is automatic, so you never need to press a jump button. On a touch screen, you steer with taps or by tilting or swiping, depending on how the build handles input on your device.

The screen wraps at the sides: slip off the right edge and you come back in on the left. That wrap is the core movement trick, because it lets you cross the whole width of the screen to reach a platform that would otherwise be out of range.

Platforms are not all the same. Some are solid, some slide sideways, and some crumble or vanish after a touch. Springs and similar boosts launch you higher than a normal bounce, and hazards appear as you climb. Learn to tell safe platforms from the ones that will not hold you.

Tips

• Steer early and gently. Overcorrecting is how most runs end, because the character keeps its sideways speed through the bounce.
• Use the screen wrap deliberately. If the next safe platform is on the far side, going off the edge is often shorter than crossing the middle.
• Do not land on a breakable platform unless you have another one lined up above it. Look one jump ahead.
• When you get a boost, use the height to scout the layout above before you come back down.
